Akcja COST pn. WECaNet A pan-European Network for Marine Renewable Energy, zaprasza naukowców rozpoczynających karierę i zainteresowanych pozyskiwaniem energii z fal morskich i oceanicznych, do uczestnictwa w kursie, który odbędzie się od 18 do 22 marca w Warnie. Istnieje możliwość uzyskania dofinansowania wyjazdu w wys. 500 EUR. 

 

Wave Energy Training Course

WECANet COST Action (CA17105)

WECANet is pleased to announce that the “1st  WECANet Training Course” on Wave Energy  will be held on the 18th to 22nd March 2019

in Varna, Bulgaria.

Training Course Content

The 1st WECANet Training Course on Wave Energy is planned for 5 days, with six hours of training per day. The Training Course is specifically designed for those relatively new to wave energy and will cover the following topics:

·           Introduction to wave energy

·           Physics of ocean waves

·           Fundamentals of wave energy converters

·           Modelling and representation of the wave climate

·           Hydrodynamics of wave energy converters

·           Frequency-domain modelling of wave energy converters

·           Wave energy converter power-take off systems

·           Wave energy converter control systems

·           Calculating Annual Energy Production

·           Economics of wave energy converters

·           Techno-economic optimisation of wave energy converters

·           Understanding wave energy converter design

·           Wave-to-wire modelling of wave energy converters

·           Design and modelling of wave farms

·           Physical modelling of wave energy converters

·           Advanced modelling of wave energy converters

·           Mooring design for wave energy converters

·           Prof. Valery Penchev, Danube Coastal Research Association, Varna, Bulgaria

Funding Application Details

Applicants are invited to apply for a WECANet Training Course Grant of 500€ towards travel and subsistence cost incurred to attend this course. Early Stage Researchers, PhD students and MSc students in wave energy are eligible to apply for a grant as trainee in order to participate to the WECANet Training Course.

Eligible Trainees are:

·           Trainees from COST Full Members / COST Cooperating Member

·           Trainees from Approved NNC Institutions

·           Trainees from Approved European RTD Organisations.

The criteria for COST Action support can be found on the COST Action Vademecum (http://www.cost.eu/Vademecum). Any costs over 500€ must be covered by the applicant. The Grant will be award after verified attendance at the course. A total of 25 WECANet Training Course Grants are available to support attendance of this Training Course.

Evaluation and granting of Training Course Grants

The evaluation of WECANet Training Course Grant applications and preselection of Grantees will be performed by the Action’s Training Course Coordinator/Committee on behalf of the Management Committee of the WECANet COST Action, who will be invited to approve a list of preselected Grantees. The selection of applicants is based on the potential value of the course to the applicant and the applicant’s institution. The selection also considers the COST policies on promoting gender balance, enabling Early Career Investigators and broadening geographical inclusiveness.
